What's Going on in 1st Grade

Well it's been a busy crazy last two weeks.  We have been doing lots of apple activities & even visited the pumpkin patch this week!!!!  If you live in the Hickory, Charlotte area Patterson's Farm is the BEST place to go!!!  Very organized & just all around great place!!!  $8.00 per person & there are many fun activities.  You will see some pics below.

Measuring around the apple.  We use straw rulers that are flexible & each straw part is 1 inch.

Here is the paper we use to complete our Apple Science

Measuring the height of an apple.

Still measuring the height

We read this book as a class.  It goes over the Life Cycle of an Apple.

Getting ready to see if our apple sinks or floats

It floats!!!

This was what we discussed & then students drew The Life Cycle of an Apple in their Science Notebook.

Some examples of our apple life cycle drawings

Some drawings of the life cycle

Pumpkin Patch.  When you get there every class gets a class picture taken & then you get the picture to take home.

They had lots of stuff to play with in their play area.

The corn pit was by far the most popular to play in.

Duck races

More duck races, they were so fast on moving the ducks with the water, I couldn't get a pic of the ducks!

Milking a cow!!!

Goats

Even the goats had a playground to play on!!!

Corn angels
