Back to School Confetti

I LOVE this idea!!!! I used it last year in my K/1 combo class & plan on using it again this year. It's Back to School Confetti.  Children put the confetti under their pilllow the night before school & it should releave any stress (hopefully put them at ease). You can find the poem here.  You will need to but 1 large bag of sequins (all different colors).  I got mine at Hobby Lobby for $3.99 with 40% off.  Put a little in snack sizes bags.  I made one for each child in my class.  Then staple the poem to the front of the bag.  I hand them out at Open house when the kids come to meet their teacher.  Just another way to make students feel comfortable the 1st day of school.  Hope you can use it & your new students LOVE it!!!!

Daily 5 & Reading Level labels

I have FINALLY finished Daily 5 & Reading level labels.  These don't need to be used just for your Daily 5 library.  They can be used for any reading library to organize your books.  And lucky for you they are FREE until tomorrow morning.  You can find them here.  Down below is a picture  of 1 label.  There are six labels on a page.  Some labels are...Favorite Characters, Junie B. Jones, Magic Tree House, Phonics/Easy Readers, leveled labels are for levels A-S.  Go to my TpT store & check them out remember they are FREE!!!

Now I had a VERY productive day. We 1st grade teachers got together & planned the 1st week of school. Great Back to School activities...can't wait for the little ones to get to school & start another exciting year. Plus an added bonus we make our own planbooks, so we printed them off & ready to take to Office Depot tomorrow & have it bound. Then it's planning & writing away I go!!!!

Christmas in July Book & Exchange Linky Party

For "Christmas" in July, April from Chalk Talk sent me these awesome books.  Pete the Cat Rocking in My School Shoes & Pete the Cat I Love My White Shoes.  Very excited because I haven't read these books & super excited I can use them at the beginning of the year!!!  April also sent me a CD with books on them.  You can find the lesson for Pete the Cat Rocking in My School Shoes here.  Check it out & hope you can use it in your class!!!!

New TpT Items & Focus Wall

WOW!!! I want to thank all my followers & the kind words & sharing of ideas over the past 2 months. Having a blog has been a goal of mine recently, & I made it happen but now hopefully I can keep up with it when school starts!!! It has been great getting to know different bloggers!!! Thanks again for all your support.


Holy Moly...I got a lot done yesterday, so good thing it rained. Inserted the new Thistle Girl Pirate Graphics in some things I had made for my classroom & Open House. Worked on 2 things, that I have posted on TpT store. 

Also I worked on my Focus Wall.  Now this is new to me this year but I know other school's do focus wall's.  I have looked at other blogs & pictures online to get some ideas.  But if any bloggers out there have any great info. or ideas on Focus Wall's I would love to hear about it.  I have made my headers to put my objectives on weekly.  I am going focus on Reading, Writing, Math, Spelling Words & Vocabulary Words.  I can't wait to get it all printed off & laminated & then the pics will come.  But I am always looking for new ideas on this since it is new to me.

Now for my items I am posting.

Rhyming I Have, Who Has

Print on white cardstock & laminate. Play in your small group or make 2 sets & divide the class in 2 groups & play. Players are looking for rhyming words. Great for those starting to learn rhyming words & great to reinforce rhyming words & the skill.

Gameboards...there are 3 themed gameboards, Reading, Back to School, & Fall. Print on white cardstock & laminate. I use with spelling words, Dolch Words, etc. Have your words & 2-3 players. Players read the word on top of the deck. If they read it correctly, they roll the die & move that many spots. Great for small groups & Literacy Center time.

I am still working on Daily 3 Book bin Labels & Leveled book labels. I am getting frustrated with it when I convert it to a pdf. So I am going to work a little more on it this week to trry & figure it out. But here is a preview!!!!

My Summer Days Are Limited

My plan for the day of relaxing by the pool have been cancelled by MOTHER NATURE.....it's rainy & overcast, just nasty in general!!!! So now I'm going to try to get all of my To-Do List for school, so I am not burning the midnight oil. So let me tell you how over the top EXCITED I am with the new Pirate Graphics from Thistle Girl. They are AWESOME!!!!!! Now to go back & change a few things.

I went to my class on Wednesday & worked on a few things. Have some more ideas for your pirate themed classroom, which I may keep this theme for 2yrs, but can't make full commitment.

Name tags for the 1st day...Oriental Trading ($5.00 for 100)

No Drip Paint for Daily 5 Word Work

Dry Erase Board I talked about in my last post, but black & uses different dry erase crayons.

Pirate Chest (IKEA $14.00) I am going to use it to hold stuff animals my students use when they are reading.

Pirate Silly Bandz (Oriental Trading $5.00 for 50) I will give these out the 1st day of school with a sticker I made on Vista Print.
